The Zoloti Vorota television company has made a film of Kyiv’s Ivan Franko National Theatre production of Irena Kowal’s play THE LION AND THE LIONESS. The late Bohdan Stupka stars as Lev Tolstoy and Polina Lazova plays the role of Sonia Tolstoy. The play makes use of Lev and Sonia’s extensive diaries and explores their tempestuous marriage, starting with Tolstoy’s death and ending the night before their wedding. 

In Ukrainian without subtitles-running time 2 hours
