Massachusetts bill HD 1383 “An Act concerning Genocide Education”, which includes the Holodomor, has been re-filed.
The Holodomor Remembrance Committee, sponsored by UCCA, is partnering with other genocide committees including Darfur, Holocaust and Armenian initiatives, and with other local Ukrainian organizations in supporting this action.

Local legislators have until Feb. 3, 2017 to register as Co-sponsors of the bill.
Please take the time to contact your legislator to voice support for this bill and especially to ask them to consider being a co-sponsor.
This can be done by email, phone or by using their contact page on the web.

We just have three days to accomplish this important work, please take the time to do this.

This is part of a national campaign to raise awareness of the Holodomor, as a vehicle to highlight some of Ukraine’s past struggles. We have a monument in Washington DC, let’s get some education going. Boston and Massachusetts are in the forefront of this effort.

Dear Representative __________ ,

I am writing to ask you to consider co-sponsoring HD1383- “An Act Concerning Genocide Education” which would incorporate the teaching of the major genocides that have occurred around the world beginning in the 20th century into the history curriculum on the secondary level in the public schools of the commonwealth. The Act lists eight major genocides but does not preclude the inclusion of others.

I believe that the introduction of such studies into the current curriculum would lead to a greater understanding of the processes that can breed such atrocities and will ultimately serve to promote tolerance and good will, while providing our students with a wider world view.

I live and vote in your district and look forward to your support.
